History of Jive after Five
The formation of the Jive after Five is to create the opportunity for a Nationwide dancing competition, open to both junior and senior dancers with a difference. You do not need to be a member of a Rock and Roll Club, e.g. you could be a member of a Dance Studio or Cosmopolitan Club. The music used for the competition id both from the NZ National’s Song list and contemporary music of today. This creates a fun, relaxed and novel difference.
Costume attire also hold's an alternative element, the choices being the National Dress Code or jeans and t- shirts for males, straight skirts and pedal pushers for the ladies.
Categories are different too – with the introduction of a freestyle (no rules) grade and the open is for all ages. [ See all grades here ]
